Ethical hacking - Master's at Universidad Nebrija

I keep bringing Master’s programmes for anyone with the cybersecurity itch, and in this episode I continue with the one in Cybersecurity, Engineering and Management at Universidad Nebrija. This time I’m joined by Xabier Iglesias, who’ll teach the offensive security part and with whom I’ll be sharing a classroom, because the two of us will both be teaching the breaking-things side. Xabi and I have known each other since the pre-covid days, from an academy he set up at the university, and he hasn’t stopped teaching since while running the cybersecurity department of a fairly large Galician company.

We take the chance to get into a debate I enjoy: the term ethical hacking. I confess I hate the label, though I admit it sells. Xabi takes it to the ground that really matters: a hacker is someone able to subvert the expectations of a technological product thanks to their knowledge. The substance is there, not in the merchandising.
