III NCL - Mentors from Galicia

A mentors’ livestream doesn’t always go smoothly, and this one was a glorious mess, with a Guardia Civil colonel connecting from Spain’s emptied heartland while his 4G dropped out on every sentence. Even so it’s worth it, because it’s about the NCL, the National Cyberspace Challenges League, and about why it’s worth signing up. I’m the head of cybersecurity at a Galician industrial company, and I serve as a mentor alongside two others.

Joining me are Martín Vigo, a Galician who works on the red team of a social media company in San Francisco and runs the podcast Tierra de Hackers, and Noemí Rodríguez, a criminal law attorney who insists that the legal side weighs as much as the technical one. We explain that you compete individually or in a group (two technical profiles, one in law and one in communication), that there are scholarships, an employability fair and even a fifteen-day trip to Shenzhen for the winning team.

We also talk about how to prepare, about certifications like the OSCP, about this edition’s patron, Iker Casillas, and his startup accelerator.
