The CyberWeek - Interview with User_Sec

Another of the hacktivism interviews, and this one steps it up a notch. So far we’d spoken with pro-Russian groups of Serbian origin; User_Sec, by contrast, is of Russian origin. Behind it is a powerful channel, with thousands of affiliates, and a long list of attacks on NATO and intrusions across many countries. It was harder than other times. This actor moves with another level of wariness: the Cibercapitan had to present credentials, references from the earlier interviews, and even ask other groups about them before it agreed to answer.

In the end it replied, and the answers are worth it, though there’s one question it left hanging, as you’ll see. I insist on something that’s sometimes hard to grasp. We live in an age where freedom of expression is attacked easily, and precisely for that reason we need to know what everyone thinks and apply critical thinking. Knowing why and how they act, we’ll be in a better position to defend ourselves.
