WHAT IS a CYBERATTACK? 🟢 How do CYBERCRIMINALS ATTACK?

We tend to picture a cyberattack as clicking once and that’s it, company hacked. To dismantle that fantasy I sit down with FD Andrés, Paco to his friends, who has more than twenty years in tech and security, has turned fifty without ever stopping studying, and today runs the global SOC of a multinational headquartered in Chicago.

With his slides on screen we walk through the evolution of cybercrime, from the almost Robin Hood profile of Kevin Mitnick to today’s organized crime, with its groups, its investors and even its enforcers. He explains ransomware as a service and its affiliate network, who take a percentage like Amazon’s do, and shows a video of the Bangladesh bank heist, with money pulled from ATMs by mules. Then he gets into the technical weeds: why Lockheed Martin’s veteran kill chain has fallen short for him, the seven-layer full stack model he developed in 2019, and the attack methodology he worked out with a colleague to represent real campaigns, loops included.

He closes with an idea I share, and one we repeat often on this channel: Spain has talent to spare, what fails are the conditions it gets paid under.
