One Click on the Wrong Link Can Ruin Everything feat Lord Draugr
In a collaboration with Lord Draugr’s channel a question comes up that’s as uncomfortable as it is necessary: as content creators we constantly receive emails and messages trying to phish us, steal our account or slip us a dodgy-looking link, so just how dangerous is it to click on the wrong link? To answer it he leans on Chema Alonso.
The answer, as he himself puts it, is easy to sum up and pretty unsettling: anything can happen. From having your computer taken over completely, using the famous exploit kits that send you to sites set up to attack your machine’s vulnerabilities, to taking control of a vulnerable Android phone and ending up with something installed without you noticing. Chema recalls the case of the iPhone jailbreakme, the one that jailbroke the device just by visiting a website, and how the Spanish researcher José Selví took it further with his jailallme, capable of dropping a meterpreter inside the iPhone itself.
A short, direct video to shake off the idea that a click doesn’t matter. It does, and a lot. It’s worth thinking twice before pressing on anything that arrives out of the blue.
